Legislative branch: a 330-seat Interim Parliament was formed on 15 January 2007 following the promulgation of an interim constitution; note - a separate body, the 601-member Constituent Assembly is expected to be formed in May or June 2008, following direct and proportional elections on 10 April 2008; the Constituent Assembly is expected to sit for two years, with an optional six-month extension, and is charged with drafting a new constitution while also functioning as the country's legislature
